Writing

Welcome to my writing page! In the future come here to look for lots of writing ideas...to start off, here is one I have worked on recently:

Anywho...my kiddos have finally improved their handwriting enough that I can start teaching the writing process! Because of my addiction to Pinterest, I found this great writing process idea. The creator made signs for each step in the writing process: Prewriting, Writing, Revising, Editing, and Publishing.  Then after she attached them together, she had clothespins with the students' names on them to show where they were in the writing process.

My students are working on letters to Santa right now and to begin the process we began with a simple Christmas list today. My kids were required to have 8 things on their list. Tomorrow I will give a mini lesson on how to take ideas from a list and make them into sentences. Those that finished their lists today will then move their clips to the "Writing" sign. The following day I will teach a mini lesson on how to revise, (I will mention word choice, sentence variety, and sentence fluency--things we have already been working on this year).  The students who are ready for this step will move their clothespins to the Revising sign.  You can see how the rest of the process will work.

So since it is the holiday season, I am trying to save my money right now from buying all of the great work that has been created on TPT stores. However I want to give credit where it is due, so thanks so much for the idea for these signs Marisa Curtis.

Also since it is the giving season, (and because I really can't take credit for anything except putting the signs together), here is the FREEBIE sign packet for the writing process that I made. (Of course it is in animal print!)

Here are the pictures of the pages:

Hope you like it! Please leave a comment for me if you do!
